In a move to promote digital access and economic activity, the Lagos State Government has launched free public Wi-Fi services in key locations across the city, including five major markets and three recreational parks.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the initiative at the unveiling event held at Freedom Park in Lagos Island. He said the project is part of a broader push to build a smarter, more connected Lagos.
βWe are bridging the digital divide. Whether youβre a trader, a student, or just relaxing in the park, you now have access to the digital world,β the governor said.
πΆ Locations Now Covered:
- Markets: Balogun, Mile 12, Tejuosho, Computer Village, and Oyingbo
- Parks: Freedom Park, Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park (Ikeja), and Lekki Leisure Lake
Residents welcomed the development, especially students and business owners who rely on internet access for learning and daily operations.
According to the stateβs Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the free Wi-Fi is capped at 500MB per user daily and is supported by a partnership with private telecom firms. Plans are underway to extend the service to bus terminals and public libraries.
